What locations and subject matter did you choose to shoot for your photos? The photo of the land with the clouds in the back was shot in Tiverton Rhode island, and i choose the lines of the crops with the lines on the road. Describe the photos you took:What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?) For the Tiverton road shot the main object(rows for crops) in the photo was far away while the secondary object(lines on the road) was close up right next to the car. What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)The Tiverton road shot i took was taken from slightly above due to the road being higher than the land. Are your photographs horizontal or vertical? All the photos were taken in horizontal. Did you consider the rule of thirds to compose your shots? In which photos? Describe. I did not consider the rule of thirds, however on some due to me taken the shots in a car i was able to accidentally use the rule of thirds on some of the photos. Which one of of your photos is a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewer’s eye through the work? One of the photos that lead the viewers eye through the photo was the painting of the circles.
pattern and texture
What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?) When i took the shot of the flag i was as close to the flag as possible that way i did not have to zoom in as much. What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...) My point of view was from below because it was hanging high in the classroom and because i am short. Is your photograph horizontal or vertical? The flag photo is taken vertical because the lines of the flag looks better pointing down. Does this photo follow the rule of thirds? Why or why not? (Describe). This photo follows the rule of thirds because the center of the flag is in the middle of the photo. Is this photo an example of pattern, texture and/or rhythm?Explain. The flag is an example of pattern because you can see the repeated pattern of the lines of flag and stars. Which image may be overexposed? (too bright) Why? The image of the wood may be overexposed because of the light in the back ground. Which area/areas is/are too bright? The area of image that is too bright is in the upper right corner where you can see the light source. Which image is underexposed? (too dark) Which area/areas is/are too dark? The image that may be too underexposed is the image of the boxes. The right side of the boxes is too dark because of the shadows of the boxes. Which image is the best example of aproperly exposed photo? Explain why. The image of the cloth is properly exposed because you can see how the light source is not to bright where it hits also can see the shadows are not completely dark.
POWER LINES and playground
Which photo best demonstrates the rule of thirds to compose the shot? Why ? The photo of the power line and white house shows the rule of thirds because the power line is in the middle of the photo. Which photo best demonstrates consideration of distance and/or point of view? Why? The photo of the white house and power best demonstrates consideration of distance because it the photo with the subject farthest back. Which image do you feel best showcases positive and negative shapes? How/why? The photo of the power line with the white van in the background creates rectangular and triangles shape with the wires of the power line. Which photo is the best example of a strong composition what successfully leads the viewers eye though the work? Describe/ Explain. The photo of the power line, house and basketball hoop best leads the views eye though the work because it draws the eyes from the SUV to the power line and then to gray house in the background. Which image do you feel best satisfies the assignment, or showcases what you have learned about composition this term? Why? and/or Explain. The power line photo with white van in the background best satisfies the assignment and shows composition. Finally, which photo is the best example of a black and white photo with proper exposure? Explain. The photo with the power line and white house in the background best shows proper exposure because the dark areas are still visible and the white areas are not to bright.
